The Football Gods presented the Chicago Bears with a gift today, and his name is Bill Polian. The former GM and architect of the Buffalo Bills, Carolina Panthers and Indianapolis Colts is on a silver platter.
With a solid team in place, he’s the perfect guy to bring in the players the Bears need. In addition to finding numerous wide receivers everywhere he’s been, he’s an excellent evaluator of talent. All of the things Jerry Angelo can’t do, Polian does extremely well.
Obviously he became the fall guy for the Colts this season, but he was led to believe Payton Manning might return. It was a poor decision on his part, but there’s a load of talent on the Colts. These are his players. And frankly, you cannot replace a Manning on a whim. The Colts will regret this move, and the Bears could be the recipient of the Colts’ stupidity.

As a fan of the Chicago Bears, I’d like to see them do better than we (fans)
witnessed this past season. Why is it that the Green Bay Packers, in what is perceived as a small or medium size sports market, flourish to possibly their
second recent Super Bowl appearance and the Bears don’t even make it to the playoffs?
It has to start with the decision making process of evaluating talent which is in question here. Did anyone take notice of the second string quarter back of Green Bay? If Bill Polian has a better track record of being able to do this (evaluate talent) then at the very least, the Bears organization should seriously consider bringing him on board as possibly an assistant GM.
You owe your fans and the current nucleolus of franchise players that much.
Chicago Tribune is reporting Angelo is gone so hopefully the Bears are looking at bringing Polian in. Yes you can blame him for the season the Colts had this year but he also had a lot to do with the Colts being in the playoffs almost every yr since 2003 including 2 super bowl appearances.
