5 Milwaukee Brewers Who Should Be on the Trade Block

With a 4-15 record even after a win on Sunday, the Milwaukee Brewers look likely to have a very disappointing season. Injuries to key players have played a role, but at this point the Brewers look sure to be sellers at the trade deadline.

Here are five Brewers that should be on the trading block right now.

Segura's spot on this list is mostly about the potential return in a trade, since he is just 25 years old, healthy right now and off to a solid start this season (.306, one home run, eight runs scored, five RBI and three stolen bases). Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports has reported that other teams have been in contact with the Brewers about Segura, which should not be a big surprise.

Ramirez has said Milwaukee's slow start won't affect his decision to retire after the season, so he is automatically a prime trade candidate. He'll probably have to get on a hot streak to fetch much in return though.

Gomez is out right now with a hamstring injury, and he is likely at least another week from returning. Coming off two terrific seasons in 2013 and 2014, at a relative peak age (29) and with a contract that only has this year and next remaining on it, I would argue that Gomez's trade value will only go down once he returns to action.

Rodriguez was a prime regression candidate heading into the season, but he has pitched fairly well thus far (2.57 ERA, 3-for-3 in save opportunities). If a contending team that needs bullpen help calls general manager Doug Melvin, the money Rodriguez is due ($9 million total this season and next, club option for 2017) should not prevent a trade.

Lohse is coming off his best start of the season, as he allowed two runs on three hits over seven innings against the Cincinnati Reds on Thursday. That outing dropped his ERA to 7.94 through four starts, but Lohse has gone at least six innings in three straight starts and an expiring contract after the season could boost his trade value.
