5 New York Yankees Who Deserve 2015 MLB All-Star Game Consideration

The Bronx Bombers have experienced something of a resurgence this season. Great team and individual performances have helped the New York Yankees to a lead in the AL East. Here are their five most deserving All-Stars based on first-half performance.

5. 3B Alex Rodriguez

.267 average, 12 HRs, 32 RBIs

A-Rod has surprised a lot of people by knocking the cover off the ball this season. While he's slowed down from his red-hot start, he's still been one of the top run producers in the AL. It will be interesting to see if his aging body holds up in the second half, but based on his first half, he deserves to be playing in the All-Star Game.

4. RHP Michael Pineda

7-3, 3.74 ERA, 78 Ks

Pineda has really stepped up in the Yankees' rotation this season by consistently taking the rubber and dominating the opposition. There are a few cases where he got shelled, but by in large, he has been great for the Bronx Bombers in 2015.

3. LHP Andrew Miller

0-1, 1.03 ERA, 17 saves

Miller went to the Yankees with hopes he could be the solution at the closer spot, and he absolutely has been. He's currently on the DL but should be back in time for the Midsummer Classic, which he should be playing in based on his domination in the ninth this season.

2. 1B Mark Teixeira

.256 average, 18 HRs, 48 RBIs

The Yankees' first baseman has never been known as someone who will hit for a very high average, and while that has held true this season, his power numbers have shot back up as if he were in his prime. He leads the American League in both home runs and RBIs, and that elite run production should put him on the AL All-Star roster.

1. RHP Dellin Betances

4-0, 0.27 ERA, 0.78 WHIP

Some thought Betances might be the closer for this team despite the fact the Yankees acquired Andrew Miller this offseason, but he's been filling the setup role except for now, when taking over for Miller during his injury. He has been as good or better than every closer in baseball. He's given up just one earned run in 33.1 innings and deserves to be one of the first relief pitchers named to the AL roster.

John Oliver Blasts New York Yankees Over Premium Seating (NSFW)

Comedian and HBO host John Oliver tore the New York Yankees to shreds over their premium seating prices recently. Not only did he make the Yankees look like the greediest sports franchise on the face of the earth, but he also is offering six of the overpriced seats to contest winners under one condition: They must dress like they have never sat in a "premium" location before.
