Although Aaron Gordon is the Orlando Magic‘s prized draft pick, don’t expect to see him very often in 2014-15.
With the team stacked at the forward position, Gordon is figured to receive less playing time thanks to the rawness of his skills and his offensive limitations. However, just because Gordon may not see a lot of playing time, doesn’t mean that he will not make an impact with the Magic in the upcoming season.
Gordon has the drive and work ethic to get in on same games, and his defense will no doubt be an asset to the Magic. This is what Gordon was known for in college, and in the NBA, he will be known for that as well. Nobody predicted that Gordon would be an All-Star caliber player, and it was that fact that lead to many scratching their heads at the Magic’s selection of him in the 2014 NBA Draft.
Gordon could become a great intangibles player with the Magic, a player who can do the little things like dive for loose balls and get into the pain and snag rebounds. This is the heart of Gordon’s game, and the reason why the Magic brass loves him so much. Gordon has impressed both the Magic personnel and the fans with his awesome athleticism and work ethic.
This could be the season that he uses his limited playing time to get ready for 2015 -16, the season where Gordon will have the most impact. But as for 2014-15, limited playing time doesn’t equate to limited impact.
