The Wichita State Shockers basically have everything right now. They are one of the most notable mid-majors in the country, they are the best mid-major in the country, they are undefeated and they are ranked in the top 10. It really cannot get much better for this team, or can it? With that in mind, what is the No. 1 item on the Shockers’ Christmas list?
How about being the No. 1 team in college basketball. A lot has to happen for that to actually happen, but it is not impossible. Gonzaga managed to do it as a mid-major last year, so why not Wichita State?
Wichita State is ranked as high as No. 8. If it keeps on winning, it is going to keep on moving up the rankings. Plus, it is not like the Shockers have played no one this year. That is far from the case, as they have already beaten BYU, Saint Louis, Tennessee and Alabama. None of those teams were ranked at the time, but so what.
Unfortunately for the Shockers, they are going to have to go undefeated for quite awhile. Not to mention, many teams ahead of them, and behind them, are going to have to lose. There is many one-loss teams that I can see passing them in the rankings in the near future because those teams play in much tougher conferences.
Regardless, Wichita State is one of the best teams in the nation and it has proven that so far. However, the No. 1 item on its Christmas list is definitely being the No. 1 team in college hoops, or that is at least what I think.
