The 58-year-old annual rival between Texas Tech and TCU is alive and well as they face off on Saturday in Week 9. The Red Raiders won the last three meetings between the two. Their 2013 battle in Lubbock ended in a 20-10 Horned Frogs win, thanks to a stellar performance by QB Davis Webb and several questionable officiating calls against TCU.

The Horned Frogs are seeking to end this cycle for good. Right now, they are No. 10 with a 5-1 record. Despite their loss to Baylor, each week they find themselves a little bit closer to materializing a conference championship. Texas Tech has the perfect opportunity to interrupt their progress.

The Red Raiders recently broke a three-game losing streak with their 34-21 win over Kansas. To obtain bowl eligibility, they’ll need to win three more games. The chances of that happening look quite bleak considering the uphill battles they still face against Oklahoma, Baylor and Iowa State. The best they can do is possibly serve as a pothole in the road on the Horn Frogs run at a Big 12 title.

If Red Raiders QB Davis Webb keeps WRs Brad Marquez, Ian Sandler and Jakeem Grant in rotation, he should be good for several passing TDs. Grant was recently injured in an incident unrelated to football last Sunday, but for the Red Raiders’ sake, hopefully he’ll play.

The TCU offense is going to rack up points on the scoreboard, including QB Trevone Boykin’s two to three passing touchdowns. Similar to last year’s matchup, the final score should be fairly close, ending with a seven-to-10 point spread.

Kickoff is on Saturday, Oct. 25, 2014
Time: 3:30 pm ET at the Amon G. Carter Stadium
TV: FOX
