The No.2 Oregon Ducks were no match for the Oregon State Beavers, who could not stop quarterback Marcus Mariota‘s offensive assault in the Civil War game. The Heisman hopeful was successful for the entire game against the Beavers, throwing for 367 yards and six total touchdowns (four passing and two rushing), cruising to a 47-19 win. Oregon continues to dominate Oregon State 61-46-10 in one of the most storied rivalries in all of college football.

Mariota continues to add to the already impressive stats he has put up this season by breaking records for the most yards (4,106) and touchdowns in a season (48) in the Pac-12 conference. There’s truly nothing left for the Heisman voters to determine when it comes to Mariota and the finalist for the award will be announced on Dec 8.

He’s a great leader who has shown great performances on the field this season and is worthy of being named the best in college football. The most impressive stat for Mariota is that he has only allowed two interceptions the entire season. To put that into perspective, that is one interception ever 154 pass attempts for the Oregon playmaker this season. Mariota is the reason that Oregon’s offense leads the nation in overall efficiency.

The Ducks will now move on to face Arizona Wildcats in the Pac-12 championship on Dec. 5 at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, CA. The Wildcats are the only team to beat the Oregon this season, when they did so on Oct. 2 by a score of 31-24. However, the Ducks will be seeking revenge for the loss due to an opportunity of being part of the first four-team college football playoff.

There’s a possibility this could be Oregon’s year to win a national championship and would be a first not only in the new playoff format, but in the school’s 120-year history. Mariota has cemented himself in the record books, but he would be considered the greatest Oregon quarterback of all-time, if he can deliver a football championship to Eugene.
