New York Giants Offensive Line Shuffle: David Diehl Moving to LG, Will Beatty to Start at LT?

The New York Giants have informed David Diehl that he will be moving to left guard this season, his original position before the Giants moved him to left tackle several years ago.

The move will cost Diehl $750,000, but it was a necessary move after the Giants cut both Shaun O’Hara and Rich Seubert. With the signing of free agent center David Baas, the interior of the Giants offensive line has now been figured out.

But who is going to play left tackle?

I can’t imagine the Giants bringing in any more outside help along the offensive line. They’ve been frantically trying to get under the cap, but that is in order to sign their own free agents.

The cap moves include cutting O’Hara, Seubert, Shawn Andrews, and Rocky Bernard. They are also renegotiating with several other veterans, including Brandon Jacobs.

If I know the Giants, I imagine Will Beatty has done enough for the Giants to give him a chance to start at left tackle. He made a few starts at the position in 2010 and played pretty well.

He is unproven, but he’s the better option over rookie James Brewer.
