Minnesota Vikings: 5 Veterans Who Won't Survive 2015 Training Camp

The Minnesota Vikings are one of the more intriguing teams in the NFL heading toward the 2015 season, with multiple young players in position to make an impact now and into the future.

With more roster depth sure to be added in the upcoming draft, here are five veterans who I don’t see making it through training camp this year for the Vikings.

Watts saw very little action as a rookie in 2014, and the offseason addition of Casey Matthews has pushed him further down the linebacker pecking order for the Vikings. An opportunity to earn a roster spot should still come, but Watts will have to be a clear standout during camp and the preseason to stick around.

Bostick is best-known, at least to this point, for his mistake on an onside kick in the NFC Championship Game as a member of the Green Bay Packers. The Vikings have a fair amount of tight end depth (Kyle Rudolph, Chase Ford, Rhett Ellison), so Bostick will have a very tough time earning a spot on the 53-man roster heading into the regular season.

Mays will theoretically add competition to Minnesota's safety mix, and if someone can get the most from him it might be Mike Zimmer since the two were together in Cincinnati. Sticking around as a core special teamer is a possibility, but I don't see Mays showing enough to make it difficult for the Vikings to cut ties before the end of training camp.

Loeffler has been Minnesota's long snapper since 2004, and they re-signed him March, but Kevin McDermott was brought in on a two-year deal as competition for him earlier this month. Loeffler has to be tentatively be considered the front runner to win his job during training camp, but it's clear the Vikings have a plan to replace him.

Price was arrested on suspicion of DWI in December, and he recently pled guilty to a reduced charge of careless driving. He played in 14 games for the Vikings as a rookie last year, mostly on special teams, but the possibility of a suspension from the league stands to make an uphill climb for a roster spot even more difficult.
