2015 NFL Draft: 5 Players the Buffalo Bills Should Have Taken

After trading up to get wide receiver Sammy Watkins in 2014, the Buffalo Bills did not have a first-round pick this year and they had just six total selections.

The Bills needed to maximize those six picks to get the most out of the 2015 draft, but here are five players they should have drafted.

5. Michael Bennett, DT, Ohio State

The Bills have a very good defensive line, but bolstering their depth could have been on the radar during the draft. Bennett fell to the sixth round (No. 180 overall), and even though they would have had to trade up a bit he would have been a better choice for Buffalo than their first sixth-rounder (Clemson OLB Tony Steward).

4. Tre' Jackson, OG, Florida State

Jackson was a three-year starter at Florida State, and he has the size (6'4", 330 lbs.) and playing style that looks like a fit for the type of run-based offense the Bills want to feature. Jackson landed with the New England Patriots in the fourth round (111th overall), so Buffalo's missed opportunity could be a division rival's gain.

3. T.J. Clemmings, OT, Pittsburgh

Buffalo took John Miller out of Louisville in the third round (81st overall) to address their need at guard, and Clemmings is not a perfect fit on the surface since they have good options at tackle. But he was considered a potential first-round pick for a time, so the Bills could have taken a calculated bet on Clemmings' upside and given him a chance to start immediately at one of the guard spots.

Hundley went to the Green Bay Packers in the fifth round (147th overall), eight picks before the Bills took Florida State running back Karlos Williams. A trade up to get him would have been required at that point, and it should be noted the Bills lacked the resources in this year's draft to do it. But Hundley could have been groomed to be the quarterback of the future, while I think Williams has an uphill climb to even earn a roster spot.

1. Bryce Petty, QB, Baylor

Bills' general manager Doug Whaley reportedly traveled to visit Petty two days before the start of the draft, and he was available when each of their first two picks came (No. 50 and No. 81 overall). If choosing to pass on Petty becomes a mistake, Buffalo will see it often as he landed with the division rival New York Jets.
