A playoff spot seems like a virtual lock, barring an unforeseen collapse, but the Vikings will need to make some roster tweaks to reach their full potential down the road. Here are five stars the Vikings should try to trade for in 2016.

Here are five stars the Vikings should try to trade for in 2016.

5. Alex Mack, C, Cleveland Browns

Mack can opt out of his contract after the season, and he'd be in line to cash in during free agency. But if a trade could be worked out early in the offseason, it might make sense for him to pseudo-commit to Cleveland for one more year and the Vikings should have plenty of interest.

4. Marques Colston, WR, New Orleans Saints

The Saints may clean house after the season, all the way up to allowing head coach Sean Payton to leave. Colston might not be wanted by a new regime, even with just one year left on his contract, and the Vikings can use a solid veteran presence at wide receiver.

3. Kyle Long, OT/OG, Chicago Bears

Star" might not be the perfect word to describe Long, but he did earn a Pro Bowl nod as a right guard in each of his first two seasons and he moved to right tackle this year. The Vikings need to add that type of talent and versatility to their offensive line.

2. Kam Chancellor, S, Seattle Seahawks

Chancellor staged a fruitless holdout this year, and the Seahawks may be willing to trade him during the offseason. The Vikings need a competent safety to pair with Harrison Smith, so if Chancellor winds up on the trade block general manager Rick Spielman should make a phone call.

1. Larry Fitzgerald, WR, Arizona Cardinals

Fitzgerald is having a resurgent season in 2015, with 73 receptions for 926 yards and seven touchdowns through 10 games. Age (33 next August) and a full no-trade clause are potential concerns, but Fitzgerald has just one year that can't be voided left on his contract and he would give Teddy Bridgewater a much-needed reliable target.
