5 Most Disappointing Philadelphia Eagles Players In 2015

Things quickly deteriorated for the Philadelphia Eagles in 2015, so much so that head coach Chip Kelly was fired with one game to go. It’s easy to blame Kelly for all that went wrong with the Eagles, and some of it is deserved, but here are the team’s five most disappointing players from the 2015 season.

5. QB Sam Bradford

Bradford set career highs in passing yards (3,725) and completion percentage (65 percent) this season, while staying reasonably healthy and starting 14 games. But he had an up-and-down campaign overall, with 19 touchdowns and 14 interceptions, and Bradford did not do enough to make it a certainty the Eagles re-sign him this offseason.

4. LB Kiko Alonso

Kelly clearly spearheaded the move to trade running back LeSean McCoy to the Bills for Alonso, who again missed time with a knee injury (five games) and returned to action in a backup role. Durability will be an ongoing concern, but the Eagles would be taking on minimal risk (base salary less than $750,000 for next season) by seeing if Alonso can stay on the field and produce.

3. WR Nelson Agholor

Agholor was envisioned as the immediate replacement for Jeremy Maclin, but he had just 23 receptions for 283 yards and one touchdown over 13 games during his rookie season. It's far too early to write him off, but Agholor definitely did not come close to reaching any expectations in 2015.

2. RB DeMarco Murray

Murray was a terrible fit for Chip Kelly's offense, with results (702 rushing yards in 15 games, 3.6 yards per carry) to back that up. Presumed new head coach Doug Pederson, and a new offensive coordinator, would do well to install a scheme that fits Murray's running style well, while also allowing his versatility (44 receptions in 2015) to be featured.

1. CB Byron Maxwell

The Eagles signed Maxwell to a big contract (six years, $63 million -- $25 million guaranteed) last offseason, with the idea he would be legit No. 1 cornerback. A shoulder injury ended his season with two games to go, but at that point Maxwell was Pro Football Focus' 73rd-ranked corner among 117 qualifiers. If nothing else, a scheme change should help Maxwell next season.
