The Los Angeles Rams and Philadelphia Eagles traded up to the top two picks in this year’s draft, and the assumption is they’ll both take a quarterback. Beyond the Eagles and Rams, here are five other teams that could draft a quarterback in the first round Thursday night.
5. Arizona Cardinals
Getty ImagesWith Carson Palmer nearing the end of his run, the Cardinals need to find a quarterback of the future. At No. 29 overall, there could be a legit chance to draft one in the first round.
4. New York Jets
Getty ImagesRyan Fitzpatrick's situation is still in limbo, so the Jets have become a potential spot for Paxton Lynch in mock drafts at No. 20. Realistic or not, the Jets might draft a quarterback solely as a possible leverage play with Fitzpatrick.
3. San Francisco 49ers
Getty ImagesThe 49ers may be unable to trade Colin Kaepernick, and it's pretty certain they'll miss out on Jared Goff and Carson Wentz. But a quarterback could still be an option at No. 7 overall, or a move down to still get one is possible.
2. Cleveland Browns
Getty ImagesThe Browns have consistently whiffed on first-round quarterbacks, but they have a top-10 pick and an opportunity to take one again. For what it's worth, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport has mentioned Lynch as an option for Cleveland at No. 8 overall.
