The Montreal Canadiens are the NHL's most successful organization in winning 24 Stanley Cups, but the Detroit Red Wings currently have the longest streak of consecutive playoff appearances at 24. They have been the team to emulate over the past 25 years as one of the NHL's best. As good as that is, they still have some questions that they hope to have answered prior to the start of the regular season.

Defenseman Green's career started in the 2005-06 campaign for the Washington Capitals where he scored 360 points in 575 regular season games, and his best season was in 2009-10 when he put up 76 points. The soon to be 30-year-old has never won a Stanley Cup and goes over to a team that is always in discussions for playoff games each spring. Can he bring some of that production with him to his new city?

He had a great career with the Tampa Bay Lightning followed by Dallas, the New York Rangers and the Chicago Blackhawks. He has now joined the Detroit Red Wings for this season on a $ 3 million deal. His best year was with the Lightning in 2003-04, when he won a Stanley Cup, Lady Byng and Conn Smythe trophies. He had 37 points in 76 games with Chicago last year while winning another Stanley Cup. Does Richards have another big year left in him?

This is actually a good problem to have, as each goalie has been successful. In 50 starts last season, Jimmy Howard stepped in, winning 23 games, while Petr Mrazek won 16 of his 26 starts, earning three shutouts with a goals against average of 2.38. Mrazek has proven last year that he should be under consideration for a bigger role of responsibility as an NHL netminder, but Howard is not going to give up his starting role that easily.

NHL fans were shocked, especially those in Detroit and Toronto, when head coach Babcock left the Red Wings to become the Toronto Maple Leafs' new boss for eight years worth $ 50 million. Babcock coached 853 career games in Michigan where he won a combined 525 games with the Wings. He led the team to five first-place finishes within their division when they were in the Western Conference. How will the Wings manage without Babcock?

1. Can Jeff Blashill Keep 'The Streak' Alive?

Under former head coach Mike Babcock, the Red Wings always made the playoffs and had back-to-back trips to the Stanley Cup Finals against the Pittsburgh Penguins in 2007-08 and 2008-09. Detroit won after the 2007-08 season, while Pittsburgh won their Stanley Cup the following season. Blashill becomes the 27th head coach in Red Wings history, but he has never coached in the NHL. Questions will always be there as to the learning curves of being a successful rookie head coach.
