2012 Fantasy Football Busts: Miami Dolphins Running Back Reggie Bush

For the first time in his career, Reggie Bush broke the 1,000-yard mark on the ground during the 2011 season as the Miami Dolphins appeared to be the perfect fit for the former USC standout. While the running back has set expectations even higher for the 2012 season, it may be difficult for Bush to match last year’s numbers–which is why he should be considered one of the top 2012 Fantasy Football Busts this upcoming season.

Bush finished the 2011 season with 1,382 yards from the line of scrimmage to go along with seven total touchdowns, but there’s a chance he could be sharing more carries in the backfield in 2012. Bush may enter the season as the starter, but second-year running back Daniel Thomas and rookie Lamar Miller will be pushing for playing time as well–which could hurt Bush from a fantasy perspective.

Obviously, Bush has the advantage over Thomas and Miller from an experience perspective, but both backup running backs seem capable of putting up decent numbers this season. Thomas showed potential at times as a rookie in 2011 after rushing for 598 yards and many believe Miller could end up being one of the top rookie steals from this year’s draft class considering Miami was able to land him in the fourth round.

Most fantasy football owners will select Bush in the mid rounds (third round at the earliest) and use him as a No. 3 or No. 4 running back on their roster. Bush was one of the biggest surprises last season, but it’s hard to imagine him making as much of an impact in 2012.
