Buffalo To NY Shuttle Works Overtime
Its been a busy week on the Buffalo-to-New York shuttle. On Friday Omir Santos joined the Mets as a third catcher. Henry Blanco, the regular backup, is still day-to-day with general soreness. “He’s a little banged up, and we did not really want to have to go to him,” manager Jerry Manuel said. “So we decided to see what it looks like with a third catcher for a while, and then make a decision here in two or three days, see what’s going on.” To make room for Santos, the Mets designated Gary Matthews Jr for assignment.
