Niese Returns, Perez Departs (for now)
(No Rants)When it rains it pours for Mets fans, but this is a good kind of rain. The one you want to dance around in, with or without clothes, your choice. Jon Niese (2-2) pitched seven strong innings in his return from the DL, Ike Davis had the first four-hit game of his career and David Wright hit his 10th home run of the season, matching his season total from last year. But the very best news of all involved everyone’s least favorite Mets pitcher, Oliver Perez. He was placed on the 15-day DL with patella tendinitis. I guess whiny brat isn’t a good enough reason to be put on the DL, so they had to come up with something else. The Mets struck often and early against Marlins starter Nate Robertson (4-5) -who had already beaten the Mets twice...
