NCAA Tournament Sweet 16: Kansas vs. North Carolina State Preview
Game: (2) Kansas – (11) North Carolina State 3/23 10:17 PM ET
Bracket: Midwest Region
Game Analysis: The two-seeded Kansas Jayhawks survived a late game scare, beating Purdue 63-60 last round. Forward Thomas Robinson has been impossible to cover down low and has collected 26 rebounds in the team’s two tournament games. Kansas relies on their ability to move the ball around with 15.6 assists per game, but will have a hard time getting in down low with N. C. State’s athletic forwards. North Carolina State is playing hotter than any other team in the nation. The Wolfpack already upset San Diego State and Georgetown in this year’s tournament, so they will be a huge upset pick this week across the nation.
Matchup to Watch: F Thomas Robinson, Kansas vs. F C. J. Leslie, North Carolina State – Robinson is averaging a ridiculous 11.8 rebounds per game and is one of the most difficult forwards to guard one-one-one. Robinson will likely be matched up with North Carolina State forward, C. J. Leslie. Leslie is an amazing athlete and is able to post up anyone down low despite only weighing 209 pounds. Robinson will likely get the better of this matchup, but expect Leslie to at least slam home a couple throughout the game.
Matchup to Watch: PG T Taylor, Kansas vs. PG Lorenzo Brown, North Carolina State – Of the two point guards, Taylor is faster and the much more natural point guard. Brown is a converted shooting guard and is still learning the position. However, Brown in an outstanding jump shooter and is not afraid to fight under the hoop for rebounds.
Prediction: Kansas 72 – North Carolina State 68
