The Last Place Anaheim Ducks have their collective heads held a little higher heading into tonight’s contest against the Philadelphia Flyers. Tonight they debut under the tutelage of new head coach Bruce Boudreau.
The former Jack Adams Award winner and recently fired then hired coach will try to help the Ducks to their first back-to-back victories in more than a month when his new teams host the Philadelphia Flyers.
Anaheim (7-13-4) is mired in a 2-12-4 slump, and despite Wednesday’s 4-1 win over the Montreal Canadiens the Ducks decided a coaching change was needed.
For now, tonight simply marks the Ducks first step back to respectability and ultimately back to the post season.
Boudreau inherits a solid group of players that includes reigning NHL MVP Corey Perry, Bobby Ryan, Ryan Getzlaf and the ageless Teemu Selanne, the team leader with 22 points.
Tonight will be Boudreau’s first opportunity to see what his team has to offer. Philadelphia is 7-3-1 on the road this season but good news for Ducks fans, they haven’t defeated Anaheim since way back in 2009. The Ducks and their new coach plan to keep it that way.
The teams face-off at 7:30 pst at the Honda Center.
