Shabazz Muhammad Commits To UCLA
Wednesday night marked the night that the Shabazz Muhammad picked his future school. One of the top ranked recruits in the 2012 basketball class picked UCLA. The other top ranked recruit Nerlens Noel picked his school as well and you can find that right here.
Shabazz Muhammad had interest in Kentucky and Duke as well. The 6’6 small forward from Bishop Gorman High School in Las Vegas will be an instant star. He is silky smooth and packs a whole lot of scoring punch into his game. Plus, he’s left handed. Being left handed is a huge bonus in a basketball player. It’s not as common, so it is a good way to pick up some cheap points when the defense forgets what the strong hand is.
I would be shocked if Muhammad stays in school for more than one year. He is going to be a top pick in the 2013 NBA Draft, so there is no point in staying unless he gets hurt. Heck, he might even pull an Anthony Davis and Michael Kidd-Gilchrist and win a title his first year. There would really be no point in staying then.
I am excited to watch Muhammad play in a college setting. I have only seen him play in All-American games and whatnot. Those aren’t exactly great judges of how a player is going to play at the next level. As with every player, he will have to be ready for the physicality that comes with the college game. It is no walk in the park. Every player is going to be gunning for him. They want to show that they can stick the best.
