Kentucky Wildcats Assistant Rod Strickland Arrested For Suspended Driver’s License
Gary A. Vasquez - US PRESSWIRE

According to KentuckySports.com, Kentucky men’s basketball assistant Rod Strickland was arrested last week in Fayette County, Kentucky, when he was pulled over for failure to signal, and was found to be driving an unregistered vehicle with a suspended driver’s license.

The 46-year old, 17-year NBA veteran, has had a number of auto-related run-ins with the law as of late, as he was pulled over for running a red flashing light while intoxicated in 2007, was arrested for a DUI in 2010, which resulted in the suspension of his license, and then had his license suspended again in 2011 for failure to maintain proof of insurance.

Sporting News, however, has reported that Strickland’s license had in fact been reinstated prior to this latest arrest, but that the court system in Kentucky had failed to update his status.

Strickland joined Kentucky head coach John Calipari’s bench at Memphis back in 2006, and was named the Director of Basketball Operations for the Tigers in 2008. He then joined Calipari’s bench again in 2009 when he took over the ranks at Kentucky. Strickland isn’t listed on the team’s official roster as an assistant coach, rather as a “special assistant” to the head coach. It’s impossible to miss him on the bench however during games.

Strickland’s latest arrest will most likely not have an impact on the defending national champs, nor will it erase the fact that Raekwon ended one of hip-hops greatest tracks with the NYC point guard’s name.
