2015 New York-Native Jessie Govan Talks Interests and Recruitment
Jessie Govan will be a name to take note of down the line.
Standing at 6-foot-9, Govan is just now preparing for his sophomore season at St. Mary’s H.S. (NY) and schools are continuing to take notice of his overall talent and potential.
With another summer in the books and another school year on the horizon, Govan lists the following programs: Georgetown, UMass, Virginia, Rutgers, Temple, Miami (FL), and George Mason.
While Jessie Govan continues to improve and enjoy his time at the high school level, more schools will undoubtedly be coming forward in pursuit of the New York-native.
Govan runs with the New York Lightning on the AAU circuit, and looking back, Govan knows he had a strong off-season. “I feel like I played well, learned a lot and I see areas of my game where I can improve more,” he said. “Overall, it was a productive season.”
As the focus returns back to his high school in Manhasset, New York, which is right outside of Queens, Govan now looks forward to continue to building his game. “I’d like to mostly work on my lateral quickness,” he explained, “and more ball handling, just in case that situation comes up where I need to dribble, then I can do that with confidence.”
While still early in his recruitment, Govan is already garnering the attention of many of the major recruiting outlets, as well. In fact, ESPN listed Govan at No. 19 nationally in their first class of 2015 rankings.
With a list of schools that continue to grow, Govan appears set on harnessing his bright future on the court.
