Despite having their top four rotation spots set for next season, the Diamondbacks appear to still be looking to add one more starter, according to MLBTradeRumors.com. Joe Saunders and Hiroki Kuroda are two names that remain attached to Arizona.
Here is a brief blurb from MLBTradeRumors.com about the D’Backs showing interest.
The Diamondbacks continue eyeing Saunders and Kuroda as they look to fill out their starting rotation. They want to re-sign the left-handed Saunders, but are wary of his asking price, tweets Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe. They also maintain interest in the right-handed Kuroda, tweets Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports.
Obviously, only one of the two will be signed by Kevin Towers because of Arizona’s rotation depth. Ian Kennedy, Daniel Hudson, newcomer Trevor Cahill and Josh Collmenter make up the rotation as of now.
As I have stated numerous of times, my choice between the two would be Kuroda. Not only does he have the better arm and has put the much better numbers in recent years, but because of his age, he more than likely won’t command a mutli-year deal like Saunders will. That would mean more contract flexibility for the Diamondback after 2012.
Stay tuned for updates regarding the D’Backs pursuit of these two players.
