On paper, the Rangers dominated the Florida Panthers on Tuesday night, so it’s a shame hockey isn’t played on paper, it’s played on ice. New York lost to Florida 4-3, ending a short-lived two-game winning streak and closing out the All-Star break on the wrong end of a game. Henrik Lundqvist only faced 17 shots [...]

For the second straight game, it took a shootout to determine a game against a Southeast Division foe and once again, the Rangers were victorious. Artem Anisimov, who scored the deciding goal in the skills competition, was one of three Blueshirts to convert against rookie goalie Braden Holtby. The Rangers defeated the Washington Capitals 2-1. On July 1, 2007, the Rangers made a huge splash in free agency by adding the top two centers available, Scott Gomez (from the Devils) and Chris Drury (from the Sabres). Gomez has since been traded and Drury has been named the 25th captain in team history. Now with the Broadway Blueshirts plagued with injuries, [...]

If the Rangers injury list couldn’t get any more crowded, it just did. Ruslan Fedotenko will miss 2-4 weeks with a separated left shoulder suffered in Thursday’s 7-0 win against Toronto. The injury occurred in the 2nd period when the 32-year old took an open ice hit from Mike Komisarek. Fedotenko had been playing through [...]

Hours after beating Atlanta 3-2 in a shootout, the Rangers made a couple of player transactions within the organization. They have recalled forward Evgeny Grachev and defenseman Michael Del Zotto from their AHL affiliate, the Connecticut Whale. Del Zotto was sent to the AHL on January 3 after struggling to find a groove at hockey’s [...]

For the 7th time in their last 11 meetings, it took extra time to decide a game between the Rangers and Thrashers. This time, New York was victorious. It’s funny how much could change in a short period of time. Less than 24 hours after the Rangers humiliated Toronto, they were run out of the building by the Hurricanes, losing 4-1 in Raleigh on Thursday night. Carolina jumped on Henrik Lundqvist early, striking first just 5:39 into the game. Later in the period, [...]

Prior to tonight’s game, Marian Gaborik had gone eight straight games without a goal, leaving some people wondering what was wrong with the team’s biggest offensive threat. Have no fear, Marian is here! Gaborik silenced doubters by scoring four goals and adding an assist as the Rangers demolished the helpless Leafs by a 7-0 score. [...]

For the third time in their last four games, the Blueshirts were on the wrong side of a one-goal game. The Flyers defeated the Rangers 3-2 on Sunday night at the Garden, falling to 0-3 on the year against their Atlantic Division rivals. Reserve goalie Martin Biron got the start and the beginning didn’t go [...]

Make more room on the injury list! The Rangers will be without center Brandon Dubinsky for 3-4 weeks with a stress fracture in his left leg. The 24-year old leads the team in goals (17), assists (21), and points (38). Also on the shelf for the Blueshirts are Vaclav Prospal, Erik Christensen, Ryan Callahan, and [...]
