Big Ten Basketball Bubble Watch: Purdue and Northwestern still have Time to make the Cut
It’s that time of the year where teams start to realize all the hard work that they have done is going to pay off. The NCAA Tournament and March Madness are right around the corner, but there will be heartbreak for some teams if they can’t escape the bubble.
Teams in the Big Ten Conference that have already been locked in are Michigan State (13-4), Ohio State (11-5), Michigan (11-5), Indiana (10-7) and Wisconsin (10-6).
According to the rankings, Purdue should be next on the list. Purdue (9-7) is on a two game winning streak and if they continue on this route, they very well could make an appearance also. Robbie Hummel has done an excellent job this season leading the Boilermakers. With only two games left to play in conference, it is a huge time to come up big. On March 4, the Boilermakers will travel to Indiana, who has nothing to loss. But Purdue has everything to lose.
Northwestern (7-9) still has some life to them; they are still able to make an appearance. With two conference games left against Ohio State and Iowa, they will be able to keep their heads up in March. The last time Northwestern met Ohio State though, it was not pretty. On December 28 the Wildcats fell 87-54 to the Buckeyes in Ohio.
