University of Minnesota head football coach Jerry Kill is in stable condition at a local hospital after being taken off the field on a stretcher near the end of Saturday’s 28-21 loss to New Mexico State in Minneapolis. Kill collapsed on the sideline after his team’s 3rd and 10 incompletion with 20 seconds left in the game, and soon after began to violently convulse.
Kill, who has a history of seizures, was treated with ice and an IV before being transported out of the stadium 10 minutes later. It is believed that the incident was heat-related.
Coach Kill also suffered a seizure while roaming the sidelines of Southern Illinois University in 2005, as well as while during the taping of a weekly television show in 2006.
