Bad Luck Continues for Iowa Running Backs

Is there any other team in college football that has worse luck with running backs than Iowa?

On Thursday, Iowa running back De’Andre Johnson was cited on suspicion of keeping a disorderly house. Ya, I had to double read the charge too.

Apparently, Johnson had a house party (as many college students do) and things got a little too wild and crazy for the rest of his neighbors.

Sounds like every night of my undergrad career at Duquesne University in the South Side of Pittsburgh.

After the police showed up to Johnson’s house, 50 people were allegedly outside the house along with Johnson. After searching around the house, Police were able to locate Johnson where he was eventually cited.

Over the years we’ve seen Iowa running backs leave after one season for the NFL, transfer to an FCS school, and get arrested and dismissed from the team. This doesn’t seem to be anything to worry about for Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz.

Could he really suspend or punish Johnson for this?

It wouldn’t seem right. Not to mention how thin and inexperienced the Hawkeyes are this season at running back after freshman running back Greg Garmon was arrested in June. Garmon was said to be the started going in to fall camp.

The Hawkeyes need Johnson and would be significantly hurt offensively if he missed anytime because of a suspension. Hopefully no other trouble falls Iowa’s way, especially in their backfield.

Let’s not hold are breath on that one though.
