Tourny Team To Watch Out For: Detroit, What?!?
If there is going to be one No. 15 seed upsetting a No. 2 seed this March, it is going to be Detroit. They have been my favorite “mid-major” team to watch this season. Detroit is possessed with extremely athletic, explosive and intelligent basketball players. They are going to get after the Kansas Jayhawks and will upset them if they come unprepared.
Bill Self will definitely have his hands full when preparing against this juggernaut. Though Detroit has been inconsistent throughout the regular season, it seemed like they found their stride in their conference tournament. The most important obstacle for Detroit will be…how long will it take them to get used to the crazy atmosphere that is March Madness.
Sometimes it takes an underdog team like Detroit some time during the game to adjust and find their groove. My only hope is that they are not down by 20 points by the time they get comfortable against Kansas. If they are within striking distance, don’t be surprised by one of the biggest upsets in college basketball this year.
