Protect the House

Some say Death Valley is the best stadium out there. Others can argue that their’s is the best. Those fans are missing one minor detail. The prestigious head coach, Mack Brown, is 40-3 before last year at Royal Memorial Stadium. That my friend gives the Longhorn fans something to be rowdy about. My guess is that DKR Memorial Stadium is the best and loudest out there. But lately that same pep and rowdiness has vanished. With the Longhorns struggling to get a win this past season, the hearts of many have been dwindling. The spirit in Austin is at an all time low. The Texas Longhorns are in desperate need of a home conference victory.

It’s been a while since Mack Brown won at home. For most people who don’t go to Texas, they are ecstatic he hasn’t won. But for those who do, 700 days without a conference victory at home feels like a millennium. With the Kansas game this weekend I feel like Mack Brown and company will get the win they rightfully deserve. I mean they were the last team they beat at home, but not only that they ran the table with a 51-20 point game. This Saturday you’re not going to see the paramount Texas team led by “THE” Colt McCoy two years ago, but more of the something-to-prove-to-all-of-the-haters-across-the-nation team. This is the game that will put Texas back on track to the BCS Championship… not really, but more like a Cotton bowl.

With only a few days left before Saturday Mack Brown and company have been looking well rested. Texas’ young roster will soon learn that the more games they’ll win the better and louder DKR will root. As long as you protect the house, the house will protect you! Remember it’s only Kansas this week. So beat them early, but don’t overlook them. If you do they will surprise you. Like Al Pacino said from Any Given Sunday, “We’re in hell right now gentlemen. Believe me. And we can stay here, get the crap kicked out of us, or we can fight our way back into the light. We can climb outta hell… one inch at a time.” If Texas has this mind set for this week’s game and then for the rest of the season Texas will be back on top. Last but not least break the streak and win one for Austin.
