Four Oklahoma Sooner Football Players Suspended
Matthew Emmons-US PRESSWIRE

Four members of the Oklahoma Sooners football program have been suspended indefinitely for a violation of team rules.

The players in question are three wide receivers: Jaz Reynolds , Trey Franks, and Kameel Jackson. Defensive back Quentin Hayes is the fourth member of the program to be suspended.

Reynolds, a junior wide receiver, was expected to be a key contributor for the Sooner offense this season. Last year, he racked up 715 receiving yards, and his 17.4 yards per catch led the team.

With three of the suspended players being wide receivers, the Sooner offense takes a tremendous hit, with just one receiver left on the roster who caught a pass last year.

It is not yet clear which team rule was broken, or even how long the players will be suspended, but it seems that at least some of the players may not be back.

Jackson announced two days ago that he would be transferring, and both Reynolds and Franks served suspensions last season as well.

Reynolds faced the same punishment last season after tweeting, “Hey everyone in Austin, tx…….kill yourself #evillaugh,” while a gunman was reported to be wandering the campus of their arch-rival, The University of Texas. Franks was suspended, for violating team rules. Sound familiar?

It’s too early to tell how this will affect the Sooners this fall, but even with some top talent coming in, it’s hard to lose 3 receivers and it not have an impact on a team’s offense-especially one as high-powered as Oklahoma’s.

We will update you with more information as it becomes available.
