In a somewhat bizarre ending, the victory will stand for the Syracuse Orange over the Toledo Rockets from Saturday will be upheld.

Syracuse seemingly took a 30-27 lead after scoring a touchdown with just over two minutes remaining. However, the extra point was clearly wide. Big East replay officials reviewed the tape and ruled the extra-point attempt to be good to give the Orange a three-point lead they ended up needing.

Toledo marched down the field and tied the game at 30, but eventually fell in overtime 33-30.

Immediately after the game, Bill Carollo, Coordinator of Officials of the Midwest Football Officials Alliance looked over the play and agreed the call was made incorrectly.

The NCAA rulebook states that once a game completed, the final score will stand and there is no way to change the outcome. That is great news for Syracuse who won their second overtime game of the season.

The Orange defeated Wake Forest the first game of the season 36-29 in overtime.

This had to be tough news for Toledo who has played a brutal schedule and now is 1-3 after tough losses to Ohio St. and Boise St.

For Syracuse, the victory gave them a 3-1 start and a win the Big East desperately needed against an opponent out of the MAC.

The win gave the Big East a 6-2 record over the weekend and puts them at 21-9 overall with one or two non-conference games remaining for each team.

There are two Big East games on the slate this weekend, including a Thursday night showdown where Pittsburgh hosts No. 16 South Florida.

Syracuse will also kick off conference play this weekend when they host Rutgers.
