St. Louis Rams Eyeing A Move To London?

The St. Louis Rams hired a new coach in Jeff Fisher, intend to draft a cornerstone piece when they select second in the NFL Draft and are perhaps laying the groundwork for relocation across the pond.
Since 2007, NFL teams have staged regular season games in London in an effort to increase the visibility of America’s most popular sport.
Next season, <a href=”http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/7482739/st-louis-rams-play-london-games-next-3-years”>St. Louis will host New England and by committing to two additional games in London in 2013 and 2014</a>; it’s plausible to wonder whether owner Stan Kroenke has his eyes on England as a permanent home.
Kroenke already owns a majority stake in Arsenal but we’ve seen this ploy before from owners with aging stadiums.
The NFL and the Rams franchise can use the threat of London or Los Angeles as leverage to get a new facility built in St. Louis.
And with the current lease up at the end of 2014, it places pressure on the city to act quickly if it wants to stave off rumors.
Roger Goodell has been an outspoken proponent of eventually finding the right fit for a full-time team in London.
Stadium issues, attendance and declining interest will coalesce at the right opportunity and allow Goodell to add to his resume as Commissioner that he made the NFL global.
St. Louis has an owner with connections to London, a franchise being revamped and a stadium that needs replacing.
The clock is ticking now on the city to save their Rams or that three-year commitment to England suddenly could become much longer.
