The Boston Bruins Good News Roundup
After the mostly disastrous week the Boston Bruins had last week, it seems like their fortunes are changing a little bit this week (perhaps with the changing of the seasons), and who doesn’t love a spot of good news?
Great news from John Bishop on Twitter: Rich Peverley will be traveling with the team to California. He was also seen on the ice very early before practice on March 20. Daniel Paille is feeling okay, too, after taking a Zdeno Chara slapper during the game against Toronto. (Also, even though Nathan Horton isn’t traveling or skating yet, the fact that people are asking about him seems somewhat hopeful, just on a different level.)
Marty Turco has also been working hard since becoming a Bruin and coach Claude Julien is impressed with his attitude. That Tampa Bay game was an aberration; I feel like he might get the nod in one of the California games to give Tim Thomas some rest (although that 13-save shutout he got against Toronto may have been rest enough for him).
Fact: Everyone loves Shawn Thornton, the Bruins’ beat cop (as he is often referred to), even guys he’s sparred with in the past and old coaches.
Also, this is a thing that really happened on SportsNet when, during a Vancouver Canucks/Minnesota Wild game, Henrik Sedin passed Mark Recchi‘s streak of consecutive games played. They flashed an on-screen graphic listing some of the NHL’s iron men and, well, check out the video for what the graphic said about Recchi. Wonder which SportsNet employee or intern decided to put that on the screen?
