1944: Fred Stanfield (full name Frederic William Stanfield) is born in Toronto, Ontario. Following three seasons as a Chicago Black Hawk, Stanfield came to the Boston Bruins. His place in Boston Bruins history is on the Stanley Cup–twice, for 1970 and 1972. After six seasons as a Bruin, he went to Minnesota and then to the Buffalo Sabres before retiring in 1979. Today he lives in Buffalo, is part of the Sabres Alumni Association and even recently played in a charity game to benefit an injured firefighter.

1972: The Bruins suffer a 5-2 defeat at the hands of the New York Rangers in game three of their Stanley Cup Final series.

1976: The Philadelphia Flyers beat the Bruins 4-2 in Game 4 of the semifinal series.

1978: The Bruins beat the Flyers 7-5 in the second game of their semifinal series.

1980: Andrew Raycroft (full name Andrew Joseph Ernest Raycroft) is born in Belleville, Ontario. Drafted by the Bruins in 1998, he spent his first two years stopping pucks in Providence before being called up to Boston in 2000-01. He got his first win two days later. His first full NHL season was 2003-04 and his performance was noteworthy enough to earn him the Calder Trophy. But after the lockout, he struggled and was traded to the Toronto Maple Leafs in 2006 for Tuukka Rask. After his time in Toronto came stints with the Colorado Avalanche, Vancouver Canucks and Dallas Stars. Currently he is in the Stars system and playing for their AHL affiliate.

1988: The New Jersey Devils beat the Bruins 3-2 in Game 2 of the semifinals.

2011: Zdeno Chara‘s goal 30 seconds into the game, followed by David Krejci‘s not long after that, sets the tone for a dominant 5-1 Bruins win over the Flyers in the second game of their conference semifinals. Chara scores again, plus Daniel Paille and Nathan Horton all add goals of their own. Tim Thomas stops all but one of the 38 shots he faced.
