Hoopsworld: What would you like to address before the trade deadline (March 15th),
Kupchak: “Well, if there were a way for us to get a 25-year-old, All-Star, ball-handling guard we’d love to do it … but that’s not likely in February. So you look at other alternatives, and see if it’s better than what you have.LA Lakers GM Mitch Kupchak Couresy Of Hoopsworld
Rajon Rondo for Pau Gasol? A trade rumor brought to us from Hoopsworld via the dreams of one Mitch Kupchak. This is one of the worst trade rumors I have ever heard in my entire life. There is less than zero chance that the Celtics would deal a 25 year old point guard entering his best years in Rondo for an aging Pau Gasol or even an injury prone Andrew Bynum. I do not care how well Avery Bradley and E’Twaun Moore is playing. This team is not going to give Paul Pierce the added duties of playing point forward that would wear him down come playoff time.
Hoopsworld is clearly just talking to a source that is putting two and two together. The Celtics are always looking to deal Rondo and are looking for size to solidify their center spot without he injury prone Jermaine O’Neal on the roster. The problem is the only cent that Ainge would be willing to deal Rondo for is one Dwight Howard who his desire for is the equivalent to Kupchak’s desire for Rondo. Howard would then be a lure to get one Deron WIlliams and solve Boston’s new hole at point guard. However, Rondo is not going to be the piece that lands Dwight Howard. Gasol is not enticing anyone to Boston. It would appear that both Ainge and Kupchak will not get their wish player this season.
The best part about this is Kupchak clearly realizes that he has no chance of landing him. He makes that clear in his statement that he is already onto finding a lessor player that might be better than the aging D-Fish and shaky Steve Blake. LA is in trouble with not many solid guys on the trade block.
I do believe that earlier in the year Kupchak made a play for Rondo as Boston was struggling. Ainge listened as he always does and then probably realized that the deal did not make sense for now or the future. One can plan on Rondo going no where at least this season and certainly not to LA. Another rumor can now be laid to rest. Remember Go Green Or Go Home!!!!!

As much as you want to hammer Hoopsworld, this rumor gained traction when people close to the Boston front office told Hoopsworld they were indeed interested in Pau Gasol.
The Celtics are interested in his contract that expires with Pierce’s in a couple seasons. They are ready to start rebuilding. So before you go on a tirade bashing another website, you should find out more information about the situation because frankly you look very bitter on this subject.
I love the people close to the front office line. The rebuilding process can begin next year with only a hand full o guys under contract and a ton of cap space. Rondos contract can be dealt due to it being so cap friendly at any time. This is just trying to create views and a story out of nothing. It appears you need to check your facts not me.
To be completely honest it looks as if your just a mad Boston C’s fan. Ainge knows how to rebuild if you aren’t up to date on his rebuilding process he did it better than anyother GM (2007-2008). If I were you I’d be happy your getting a 2x champ in Pau to atleast help your front line and make yor rebuilding process even better. Stop being so bias and look at the big picture.
You are joking, right? Gasol is clearly on the decline and is not the guy he was in 09 and 2010. He WOULD help for a year and then gone after his contract was up. You do not trade a point guard like Rondo under a great contract for Gasol. Sadly even your GM knows this and that is why he made it clear that it was not going to happen. You are right Ainge is great at rebuilding and that is why this deal will never happen.
Totally agree, rebuilding begins around a young player not an old fart who is soft beyond reason. Rondo is a top 3 pg, Gasoft is a role player who is past his prime. If Ainge makes this trade he will solidify himself as the worst GM of all time.
