The Boston Red Sox MLB Rumors mill will never stop and I expect it to severely pick up over the next several months. With the Red Sox selling off their entire team–or so it seems–it makes me wonder how Bobby Valentine survives this mess. I don’t know if he knew what he was walking into, but this Red Sox team is a joke and a toxic bunch of players with management.
Many different outlets believe the Red Sox could try to bring John Farrell back to Boston because he only has one year left on his current Toronto Blue Jays contract. This move definitely makes sense in some regard, but not others. Why bring back a guy who only knew the former players? Farrell isn’t needed and I don’t think he makes sense at this point. I think it also depends on the direction of the Red Sox to determine what’s going to happen with Bobby Valentine.
The Red Sox can go two ways here. They can sell off the remaining pieces like Jacoby Ellsbury, Jon Lester and Dustin Pedroia and go through a monster rebuild with Valentine as manager. The other option is to spend some money and bring in a new group of free agents, maybe focusing on players like Zack Greinke, Josh Hamilton and Mike Napoli. If they go that route, I could see them bringing in Farrell (or someone else) with the new blood in hopes of creating a new clubhouse feeling for everyone involved.
I don’t think this is all Valentine’s fault, but bringing his personality in with a bunch of guys who seemed spoiled and entitled was probably not the best of moves.
We’ll see what happens, but the Boston Red Sox certain have work to do, no matter who the manager is.

He should be fired now I can’t imagine Jacoby Ellsbury signing an extension if Valentine is kept.
