Bryan Anderson is being given his first major league start for the St. Louis Cardinals tonight against the Arizona Diamondbacks.

The recent call-up from AAA is 0-2 in two pinch hit opportunities so far. Anderson is in the majors with regular backup catcher Jason LaRue on the DL.

Anderson will spell Yadier Molina who caught every inning of the 20-inning loss to the New York Mets and both subsequent games.

The timing allows Molina to have tonight and Thursday, an off-day for St. Louis, to rest.

Bryan Anderson will bat 7th in the Cardinals lineup, behind David Freese and ahead of Brendan Ryan.
