VIDEO: Bryan Stow And Son Throw Out First Pitch At Giants Home Opener
The tragic beating of Bryan Stow after a Los Angeles Dodgers-San Francisco Giants game last season left the nation wondering about security at sporting events. For the Giants home opener on Friday, Stow and his son Tyler helped throw out the ceremonial first pitch in a fantastic ceremony.
Stow was unable to be there in person as he is still recovering from severe brain damage. However, he appeared on the videoboard and gave his son Tyler a virtual ball. Tyler then received the actual ball from Jeremy Affeldt and threw out the first pitch.
This is a great thing to see. People were worried that Stow might not survive his injuries, but he has proven to be a fighter. His recovery should be an inspiration to everyone. Although he had severe injuries, he is progressing at an impressive rate.
The Stow lawsuit against the Dodgers is still pending, in which they are claiming 50 million dollars in damages. This would certainly help Stow’s payments for his constant care. It was a sad situation, but the Dodgers have moved to increase security at the park. Cops were out in full force in order to set a new tone.
I hope that Stow is able to make a recovery to the point that he can live a full life. It was an awful situation, but his fight is inspiring a lot of people. Stow is making the slow, but sure moves to full health, but it will take some time. Hopefully, this finally curbs violence at games.
