Chicago White Sox First Baseman Adam Dunn Looks Like A Bounce-back Candidate
After signing a four-year, $56 million deal before 2011, Adam Dunn was expected to lead the Chicago White Sox. Last year was a pretty bad example of that as Dunn had just 11 homers and hit .159 last season in his first with the White Sox.
Every full season before last year, he had managed to hit at least 26 bombs, topping out at 46 bombs. He also usually hit in the .240-.265 area. When you look at that drop off, it is pretty significant. There is one thing you need to take into account however, he had never been in the American League before last year. Pitchers are very different over here. There are man more power hitters in the National League.
Well, it seems as though Dunn is making a comeback this season. So far he is batting .265 with three bombs, 12 rbi and eight runs scored. Could he once again regain the 40 bomb season? I think he will probably end up hitting around 30-35 bombs with a .250 batting average. Dunn will also once again strikeout well over 100 times once again. In 13 games this season, he already has 22 strikeouts. That has always been his downside. The most strikeouts he has ever had in a season is 199. That is just terrible. Think about this fact, he has played in 1583 games, he has 368 bombs and 1831 strikeouts. That is just ridiculous. It is honestly amazing that he could hit over 30 bombs and strikeout well over 150 times.
The White Sox are sure counting on Dunn to figure it all out. They will need him to play to his best to get to the postseason.
It does look like he is getting back to his old self as he hit two homers, doubled and drove in five runs, leading the Sox past the Seattle Mariners 7-3 Friday night.
