Naked Streaker Interrupts Cardinals-Phillies Game
A naked streaker ran onto the field at Busch Stadium in St. Louis on Thursday night, disrupting a game between the St. Louis Cardinals and the Philadelphia Phillies. People run onto baseball fields, albeit not often enough to say it happens often, but it happens. However, people certainly don’t run onto the field completely naked often.
As with most events such as this one, Twitter is perhaps the best place to be if you can’t be in the actual stadium. Thursday night was no different. Here are some of the greatest moments.
The initial report, from Jeff Passan of Yahoo! Sports, who was present at the game and was all over the coverage all night long:
Somewhere during that report, the streaker apparently avoided several police and security officers, until the debacle ended in this fashion:
Next, Jeff provides us with a scouting report:
And now, for the crowning outcome of the whole event:

And now for some additional analysis:
Then came the humor. First, a callback to the rally squirrel that made his way onto the Cardinals 2011 World Series ring after interrupting a playoff game between the Cardinals and the Phillies, and seemingly being the ultimate sign of good fortune for St. Louis for the rest of their playoff run.
Certainly, there were no magic powers in the streaker’s appearance, as the Cardinals were losing 9-7 when he appeared on the field at the start of the 7th inning, and the final score was 10-9 in favor of Philadelphia.
To tie a pretty bow on it, a final reflection of the evening, and the 2012 MLB season in general.
Baseball – there is no other sport like it in the world.
