2012 NBA Schedule: Nets To Host Knicks In Home Opener
ESPN hosted the big unveiling of the 2012 NBA schedule Thursday evening and there are some huge matchups to be excited for. The Miami Heat and the Boston Celtics will renew their rivalry especially with Ray Allen in a Heat uniform. The Oklahoma City Thunder will also get a crack at the Heat Feb. 14.
One of the matchups that the east coast is eager to see is the battle of New York between the newly renamed Brooklyn Nets and the New York Knicks. The battle will start at the Barclays Center as the Nets will open up the arena to the Knicks Nov. 1 for their first game at home.
The Knicks will be without Linsanity but will be with new point guards Jason Kidd and Raymond Felton at the helm, a better fit for the point guard some would say. The Knicks will have to contend with the new-look Nets led by the recently re-signed Deron Williams and the new swing man Joe Johnson. It will be one of a few battles the Nets and Knicks will undertake this season.
The Nets are also scheduled to play Christmas day in one of the five games that will take place. Along with the Knicks playing the Los Angeles Lakers at the Staples Center at 3 P.M. that day, the Nets will play host to the Celtics.
The new NBA season is sure to bring happiness, joy and intrigue to all fans this season. It will be a full 82-game season this year which will call for more thrills and excitement. However, the season comes to a conclusion April 17, 2013 with the playoffs beginning three days later.
