2012 NFL Draft: Buffalo Bills’ Second Round Grade
Second Round Pick (41): Cordy Glenn (OT – Georgia)
Grade: A
Analysis: The Buffalo Bills were able to fill their biggest hole on offense in the second round, by grabbing the 6’5” offensive tackle, Cordy Glenn from Georgia. The fact that the team was able to get a potential starter on the offensive line is an outstanding value pick and very promising sign from a team that has not been to the playoffs since 1999. Buffalo is hoping that Glenn will be able to start at left tackle right away and hold down quarterback, Ryan Fitzpatrick’s blindside for the next handful of years.
His 345-pound frame may be a bit much for the NFL, but the team is confident that he can get down to around 330-335 pounds to be more agile. Regardless of what he weighs, his size and length will make him absolutely impossible to get around. Glenn has ridiculously long arms with an 84 ⅝ inch wingspan, which is the second longest of any player in the draft this year. Glenn also has giant hands, at 10.1 inches and his big mits will help him get leverage against some of the more experienced pass rushers in the game.
Glenn only started the last 16 games of his Georgia career at left tackle, but he showed steady improvement each game. However, most NFL scouts still project Glenn to be a better offensive guard or right tackle instead of a left tackle, but General Manager, Buddy Nix seems 100 percent confident that this kid can be the team’s left bookend.
