2010 CINCH CBR Bossier City Preview

The CINCH CBR Tour will be heading to Bossier City this weekend after an exciting event in Hobbs this past Saturday night. Elliot Jacoby rode both his bulls en route to winning his first event of the 2010 season, and he moved up to seventh in the standings in the process. Jacoby should be in Louisiana this weekend in hopes of making it two victories in a row. Also, there is a big bull team announcement on its way. Here are five questions I have heading into the Bossier City event. If you have anything to add, please comment below or email me at: [email protected]. Enjoy!
Will Friday Wright Finally Snap Out of His Cold Slump?
Friday Wright won the Fort Worth event in early-March, and he has been in the top spot in the standings ever since. Unfortunately for Wright, he has bucked off seven consecutive bulls on the CINCH CBR Tour since that victory, and his lead keeps getting smaller and smaller. If he continues his cold streak, it’s only a matter of time before he is overtaken in the standings by one of the riders currently nipping at his heels. Wright is definitely too talented to stay in this slump, but the pressure of being number one has definitely gotten the best of him. He is still a big part of the CBR World Title race going down the stretch, but I can’t see him snapping the slump in Bossier City.
Will Clint Craig Be Riding in Bossier City?
Clint Craig’s last CINCH CBR event was the George Paul Memorial in Del Rio, TX. Craig won that event, his second victory of the 2010 season. However, he was the only top-10 rider that didn’t ride in Hobbs last weekend, and it will be interesting to see if he returns in Bossier City. He has been nursing a groin injury since late-July, but I’m guessing he may be back this weekend. If he stays healthy down the stretch, he will be on the short list of riders who have a great shot at winning the 2010 CBR World Title. Here’s to hoping we see the man from Arkansas healthy and riding in Louisiana this weekend.
What Will the CBR’s Huge Announcement Be?
Bossier City will be the site of the 2010 Bull Team Finals, but the bigger news will be announced earlier Saturday in regards to the CBR Million Dollar Bull Team Challenge. I really have no idea what the details of the big announcement will be, but anytime the word million is used in the bull riding industry, people tend to listen pretty closely. Hats off to the CBR for genuinely putting a strong focus on the stock contracting and bull part of the sport, and it looks like they are going to take another huge step forward in this regard. I’m pretty anxious to hear the announcement.
Will Cocktail Be Making His Return to CBR Action?
Cocktail is the reigning CBR Bull of the Year, but he has only been out three times on the CINCH CBR Tour in 2010. His last out was in Del Rio, and he was impressive as always. With the tour heading to Bossier City this weekend, will we see Cocktail’s fourth CBR out this season? I sure hope so. Not only is he one of the best in the CBR, he is one of the best in any organization. In his three outs in the CBR in 2010, he is unridden with an average bull score of 46.67 points! Those are crazy numbers, and the event will be a better one if he is there.
Will Elliot Jacoby Continue to Move Up the Standings?
I picked against Elliot Jacoby before last weekend’s first round, and that was obviously a mistake. Not only did he ride his first bull, he went on to win the entire event. I mentioned how he can be almost unstoppable when he gets on a hot streak, and fans may be in for a treat down the stretch. Jacoby is scheduled to compete in Bossier City this weekend, and I won’t be betting against him two weeks in a row. He moved up to seventh in the standings with his victory in Hobbs, and he is within striking distance of the leader with eight CINCH events remaining before the CBR Tour Finale. Keep a close eye on this guy because he will be a factor the next couple months if he enters the rest of the events.
