The Chicago Bears are now on life support. This season is for all practical purposes done. And it falls squarely on the shoulders of the men in charge.
I suggested up to a few weeks ago that Lovie Smith was doing an excellent job. I’m now retracting that statement. He’s lost total control of this team. Sure, injuries are playing a role but there’s more to the story. The Bears offense is beyond a liability and the defense doesn’t stop the run or pass. Statistics lie with this unit. While they look solid on paper, there’s too many big plays given up by this group. The mistakes just keep adding up. This is a matter of coaching. How many times can a Bears safety or cornerback look around for someone to blame for blown coverage? It gets old.
Jerry Angelo fails to scout his own players. Keeping Caleb Hanie and letting Danieal Manning go prove to me that Angelo fails to see what’s on his roster. Drafting is an issue as well. How many bad draft choices is one nan allowed to have? It’s one thing to be wrong occasionally, but not a majority of the time. With the whole Sam Hurd fiasco, I believe Angelo will be gone after this season. But I’m concerned about his replacement. I’ve got little faith in that choice.
There’s really nothing left to say except this season is a damn shame. It should have been so much better. The Bears have no one to blame but themselves.

I agree 120%! Lovie has been fantastic except for a minor amount of very conservative calls that have cost some games. Jerry Ang-oh-no, is the reason the Bears have been bad since he’s been here! Lovie bringing together mediocre teams has been the reason for success in past years. How do you pass on so many good players in a draft?! We always end up with trouble makers, head cases or players with um-maybe talent and get excited like they will be good. Get rid of jerry and take the cubs route and take a chance on someone who knows talent and has proven themselves.
