Browns Ranked 30th In First AP Pro32 Poll.
BEREA — Thanks to a 4-12 record in 2011-12, the Cleveland Browns would receive 42 points and rank 30th in the first-ever AP Pro32 Power Rankings poll.
The AP Pro32 poll is an NFL version of the current AP Top 25 polls used in both the NCAA college football and basketball. The poll will consist of a select panel of 12 sports writers and broadcasters who cover the NFL.
The voter panel consists of Chris Berman from ESPN, Clifton Brown from The Sporting News, Cris Collinsworth of NBC Sports, Rich Gannon of CBS Sports/SiriusXM NFL Radio, Bob Glauber from Newsday and Rick Gosselin of the Dallas Morning News.
Other members of the AP Pro32 panel include Clark Judge from CBSSports.com, Ira Kaufman of The Tampa Tribune, Pat Kirwan from SiriusXM NFL Radio and CBSSports.com, John Lynch of Fox Sports, Alex Marvez of FOXSports.com and Dan Pompei of The Chicago Tribune.
Teams will receive 32 points for a first-place vote and one for a 32nd-place vote.
Topping the poll are the (15-1) Green Bay Packers, who would receive 374 points and five first-place votes, followed by the Super Bowl XLVI runner-up (13-3) New England Patriots, who would receive 369 points and two first-place votes.
The defending Super Bowl XLVI champion (9-7) New York Giants would receive 362 points and five first-place votes. The (13-3)San Francisco 49ers and the AFC North rival (12-4) Baltimore Ravens would round out the top five with 336 points and 315 points.
The arch-rival (12-4) Pittsburgh Steelers would receive 308 points to rank seventh, while the in-state rival, Cincinnati Bengals would receive 218 points and rank 14th. Teams below the Browns in the AP Pro32 poll are the (5-11) Jacksonville Jaguars and the Andrew Luck-led (2-14)Indianapolis Colts, with 31 and 26 points respectively.
