Dealing with landlords can be a hassle. You almost certainly never get what you sign for and getting your deposit back can be nearly impossible. No matter how hard you try, you always end up losing money. If you are Tim Lincecum, however, instead of worrying about keeping your apartment clean, you can just destroy it.
ESPN has the story about Lincecum being sued by a former landlord. Mindy Freile is seeking 350,000 dollars in damages from destroyed property. Freile also alleges that Lincecum came back to the apartment after his lease ended and continued living there. Friele says the apartment was pretty much destroyed after she attempted to evict Lincecum.
C’mon Tim. You make millions of dollars. You might want to check out the housing market. You won’t find them any cheaper than right now. If the allegations are true, you should get your own place. That way, you can trash it until it feels perfectly cozy. Trashing other people’s stuff isn’t setting a good role model for the kids.
Hopefully this case gets resolved without any further damage. Lincecum needs to just pay up to get the place fixed. He’s a multi-millionaire who is about to get another fat contract from the Giants. 350,000 should be nothing to him.
