Video: Yoav Ziv Gets Red Card For Kicking Shoe at Ref
Soccer players are touchy people. Apparently so are soccer refs. In a Europa league match last night, Yoav Ziv of Tel Aviv was not happy that he got his foot stepped on. There was no initial call, so he did what any rational player would do. In order to get a call, he kicked his shoe that was now off of his foot at the ref. He hit the ref and immediately got a red card.
Captain Hindsight thinks kicking or throwing objects at a ref is not a way to get a favorable call. In fact, it probably only agitates them. No word on whether or not Ziv does this type of thing regularly or if this was a special one time thing.
