Manor High School Pulls Off Hook and Ladder Play For Game Winning Touchdown (video)
It’s nice to see that trick plays are still alive and well in football. Manor High School in Texas was trailing Hendrickson 49-46 with just two seconds remaining. Manor was 43 yards away from the game-winning touchdown so a trick play was the only option. Quarterback Jacorey McQueen did a nice job of stepping up in the pocket to throw the ball to Avery Mack who pitched it back to Statron Jones. Jones did a nice job of avoiding defenders and diving into the endzone for the victory.
Coach Sadd Jackson actually credited the hook and ladder play from the 2007 Fiesta Bowl for his inspiration. If you remember, Boise State pulled off this same play to force overtime against Oklahoma, a game in which they won in overtime. It takes perfect timing to pull a play off like this and Manor ran it perfectly.
Big ups to Coach Jackson for the gutsy play call and even bigger ups to the players that ran it to perfection. Some NFL teams can’t pull this type of play off, but these Texas high schoolers got the job done.
