Runaway Cart Hits State Championship Coaches at Cowboys Stadium
An unmanned cart got loose and plowed into the winning Texas 5A Division II high school football state championship head coach directly following the game at Cowboys Stadium Saturday night. Spring Dekaney head coach Willie Amendola was hit from behind while being interviewed near midfield following his team’s 34-14 victory.
Many others were hit by the cart, but Amendola was literally scooped up into the passenger’s seat of the cart and rode helplessly on his back before falling to the turf at Cowboys Stadium almost 30 yards downfield.
A Cowboys stadium field worker finally caught up with the cart, jumped in and brought it to a stop. Neither the Dallas Cowboys nor Dekaney High School has released a statement on the matter.
There’s no doubt Jerry Jones will have something to say about this topic; he doesn’t want any kind of negative coverage of his new facility. This is the first year every Texas high school football state championship game was held at Cowboys Stadium and Jones wants to keep it that way. However, it will be hard if he can’t ensure the safety of those involved from unmanned golf carts…
