Carolina fan finds Panthers Super Bowl playbook at garage sale
Plenty of people have the habit of hitting the local garage sales on Saturday morning to scope out those “diamonds in the rough”. Not to sound to cliche, but it’s true, one man’s trash is another’s treasure.
Carolina Panthers fan Matt Rowell made a find that very few would ever expect at one such sale. At a local Charlotte garage sale, Rowell found a Carolina Panthers Super Bowl playbook that included plays from the team’s 2004 matchup with the New England Patriots as well as sensitive financial information for several players from the 2004-2005 Panthers squad.
A person with less of a conscious than Rowell, and perhaps one that was less honest, could have done some very sinister things with this playbook– at a minimum made a quick buck off of it by doing a little EBay auction.
Matt Rowell did just the opposite.
He held onto the playbook for a little while, read it and showed it to a few friends, but decided to return it to the Panthers, especially due to the sensitive financial information which could have had dire implications for the players mentioned.
Kudos to Matt Rowell for doing the right thing and good luck to him at future garage sales.
Maybe he’ll find more valuables that are a little less sensitive down the road.
